Honestly the first 3 episodes move slow. I think that is what kills it for most people. Anyone I try to interest with Re:Zero tend to fall asleep at the beginning arc. I won't lie I caught myself dozing off rewatching the director's cut. Re:Zero is a slow burn, world building show with random breaks into manic, gorey, horror.
