Don't forget how these things affect us. I believe there was some turmoil in the Balkans when I visited Paris in like 96ish. They had refugees from Eastern Europe in the streets. I was drinking a sprite and some boy was playing an accordion for spare change. I bumped into him, it was really crowded. He grabbed my sprite and took a sip. I think he just acted without thinking he tried to hand it back to me but my ma pulled me away cause she didn't want me drinking from the same can as a homeless boy. I looked back and he held the can up in a "thank you" gesture. You see if the Balkans was more peaceful that wouldn't have happened cause he wouldn't have to flee home and I'd still have my sprite. This is all Gavrilo Princip's fault. I want my sprite back!

Moreover, WW1 also inspired patrioticism among the Chinese especially Chinese students <because that China was unfairly treated though it ended up as a winner>..so a series of protests broke out..People like Zhou Enlai;Mao Zedong started to be active on the stage of history..

Yes, Ghost you're thinking of the early Yugoslav Wars of the 90s after Second Yugoslavia broke apart (Slovenia [1991], Bosnia [1992-1995], and Croatia [1991-1995], later there was a war in Kosovo from 1998-1999 which culminated in illegal NATO intervention). Balkan animosity goes back centuries but obviously later events helped spurred on some that negativity.

I really hope the boy is doing well now and tells that exact same story but sees it as an act of kindness.

NP, due to those conflicts taking place among the southern Slavs, I take particular interest in those conflicts and read up on them myself.

As far as I have observed, some Southern Chinese have prejudice against Chinese people who live to the north of their places..In Chinese, beifang/北方/north in certain context means Barbarian~Some interesting stereotypes:Southern Chinese eat everything;Northern Chinese smell bad because they rarely take a shower;all Manchurians are gangsters XD;People from Jiangsu and Zhejiang are pretty rich (¬㉨¬) ~
The first word about Guangdong come to people's mind is Cantonese/Yue Yu or Yue Cai/Cantonese food~
