This sounds like the inner monologue of one of the characters in my visual novel. He has the spiky hair, the heroic resolve, and always refers to himself as the hero of the story... I actually prefer episodic adventures as well. Since the themes and tones tend to shift around more, it's easier to tailor them to the strengths and stories of individual characters more flexibly. Man, the subject of D&D keeps popping up a lot lately. Guess I'll have to get something together after all. lol
