Cosplay contest at cons.

I personally find them a over all wast of time and I never win. There is always someone with some wired up cosplay that wins. So Saturday I entered one and spent 3 hours in lines just for it only for my cosplay to be taken as a joke by the jugs. So I never entering one again. What your experience with cosplay contest at cons?
