Millennials and the strawberry generation

I believe that the young group in the Millennials group will make changes however In my opinion I think the older group in the millennials group have been swept in by the ideologies and ideas of Generation X or what ever the groups called for the 35 & over and the ideologies and ideas of the Baby Boomers. I agree with @J comments about society. In my opinion people having "Extended Adolescence" is the only way to go forward in these societies I think the Economy should expect this instead of looking down on it,they should expect people won't start off going for high goal jobs and the younger gen might just start off finding jobs that they enjoy or give them satisfaction at first, we live in a world where some countries have more adults in the population then children, and those adults opinions can be heard a lot long in society, also these children will be growing up with technology and scientific discoveries that of other generations might be part but probably only the ones watching that development unfold. Also I believe the generation after the Millennials have the greats potential on the world as I think there be quick to work as a community and would see how are gen used this technology also I think there be more individual as humans but grow up knowing how to form small, large groups with each other and be able to connect quicker and solve problems quicker than any other generation. WoW to much thought into this basically I believe Millennials third gen have potential and the generation after. Also @verucassault makes a good points.

As a Millennial (I shudder at referring to myself as such) I think that we are in for some odd times. I cannot identify with feeling hurt by words, needing a safe space, thinking that I am being oppressed, and general silliness like that. Having been to countries where people are truly oppressed, I think that complaining here in the first world is ludicrous. I do not doubt that we have potential, but all generations have that. It is less a question of having potential, and more a question of realizing potential, something I think that fellow members of my generation might not accomplish.

We need a major disaster or plague to cull the population. It will happen, just a matter of when. The whole basis of our culture is flawed because of the focus on material wealth and king of the hill competition that we pretend is The American Dream. Greed and corruption is a pandemic and slowly destroying us.

That seems like a very fatalistic and grim view of The American Dream. All people seek self improvement, the issue we have is that we have allowed ignorance and entitlement to reign supreme. People do not deserve things they did not work to earn. Crazy concept, I know. Competition for self improvement is not a bad thing, but if you let it drive you into massive debt and an unhealthy competition that consumes your soul, jealousy, that is when it turns black. Personally, I would rather people just sought better education and behavior as opposed to a population cull. It would be a pointless loss of life for something that people can already fix.

Feh, people thought the baby boomers were kinda bitchy and entitled too. And we have even less financial stability than they did. I kinda have a combination of hope and dread toward Millennials in general. One one hand, I firmly believe that we have a much firmer grasp on the global human condition than a lot of previous generations did. And that general mindset will help to fix a lot of problems we inherited from said previous generations. We just seem to inherently recognize when older systems are no longer compatible with an evolving society better than a lot of the fossils in power. It's no wonder why we push back against authority, religion, government, and big business so much, since they're so deeply rooted in a lot of the problems we've inherited that we can't really fix them unless we can deconstruct and reevaluate the systems all over again. Corruption, red tape policies, and old traditions just get in the way when you want to address the ecosystem, social issues, and economy. And we honestly to godly do want to make the world a cleaner place. But my main concern mostly stems from the fact that millennials tend to lack a lot of life skills. My Grandpa knows way more than I ever will, and I can't help but feel a bit emasculated when I decide to assist him, and cant tell one part of the car from another. Sure, I could change a tire on my own without any hand holding. And I understand that's more than a lot of people are able to do apparently. But I have to look up internet tutorials just to figure out how to replace a high beam head lamp. (Of course he was also an engineer for Dupont, so I actually don't know if I should even be comparing myself to him. ^__^; ) However, I don't actually see Millennials as being pampered bitches though. One one hand, children aren't really all that sheltered compared to when I was a kid. The internet is everywhere, and so is everything I would have been beaten senseless for looking at if I got caught viewing. And sure, everyone treads carefully so as not to offend anyone, or step on a land mine by using the wrong "Trigger word". And plenty of people seem to expect the world to conform to their needs rather than bolster their own strengths and become useful to the world. But when it comes time to nut up and carry our weight, bloody some noses, and bare our fangs, I've been quite impressed at how many in my generation and under have handled problems more with rational and creative solutions as opposed to violence. And it certainly is true, I think many do need a solid wake up call, or a reality check. But I think chances are high that things will change drastically here on earth in the next decade or so, and likely for the better. Or at least with many of the main issues being addressed, in exchange for a new set of problems. Its tough to gauge to be honest, but I almost see us as being like a caterpillar in the middle of metamorphosis. The old cells of the caterpillar still exist along with the new cells of the butterfly. And when they're gone, its still going to take us a while to take flight. Gotta get the blood pumping in the wings and all. I just... Actually, I think I'm more optimistic than when I started this post.

Instant gratification mixed with self-enitltement, mixed with an inability to accept no for an answer is a terrible combo, and i fear the day my generation takes control of this planet i think it will be the next generation thats fixes it all, the millenials are gonna tear down the old world, and their children will rebuild it in the ashes of what we left behind

@polocrossebob & @Chocopyro you make good points and @kaisune_kitser you hit the nail on the head why I don't think the millenials will be the ones to change the planet just tear it down with that combo, all in the end their do is keep thinking about is looks and status, instead of thinking of responsibility for their neighbour/hood or community yes governments haven't helped this planet much but it seems millenial straight away says it their fault for the whole situation even though many people have a platform like social media, some have extra money to help others in their neighbour/hood or community I think millenials are the last tie to the gen x and baby boomer way of thinking I think the gen after might be able to not be easily persuade by media, governments, news and magazine, internet etc and will not want instant gratification only to work with friends also their be able to see when adults are directing them just so their opinions followed.Also their be more confident in their self instead of believing in self-entitlement also when thinks go wrong hopeful they won't straight away blame other religions,genders,races but see a bigger picture. I think thats why they like the YA books e.g. Hunger games not the violence but protagonists believing in themselves and seeing through to the problem.

Also @ฅ(=＾･ｪ･＾=)ฅ vampire_neko you make a good point one time I saw a programme were these family spent all their time and money on collecting these one type of little dolls there house were full of them but all they couldn't wait for is when their children would move out so they could use their rooms to house more of those little dolls, so their interests were know where else, not even on their children.
