I by all means woudlnt give family for money, but people seem to take this to extremes on both ends, either money is life, or money is satanic.
I love my friends, there my family and id do nearly anything possible for them.
That said, money means alot to me, money lets me enjoy myself and not stress about making a car payment or paying rent, actually getting money is a different story but money in itself is great.
I dont have a specific goal for money, id like as much as I can comfortably get.
Sort of a different story here, I play eve online and everything I did in it was based around making ISK ( Interstellar Kredits AKA money)
Recentlyive hit a very large amount of isk and havnt needed to worry about it anymore, and when i got to that point I seriously got bored of the game, I didnt know what to do anymore.
I don't-know what sort of effect the situation would have irl but I don't think it would be the same for alot of reasons.

You simply need money for A LOT of things, so I can't say it isn't important.
But I say you need a certain amount of it to live well but you don't really need even more of it, it's only for luxury stuff then. It's too bad too see when rich / more rich people got 3 different cars which is maybe a cool thing but definitely not necessary. In my eyes would be better if such people donate more of their money to help other people. Unforunately especially rich people are usually stingy ones and they want to get even more money while the poor people are gettin even more poor :/
So my statement is everybody needs money, but there are more important things out there imo
And not even all the money of the world is able to fill some voids in your heart so keep in mind money isn't everything

I modeled myself after Escobar, money means alot along with those I care for. Settling for good enough is ludicrous to me

Money is solely a tool for exchanging goods and services. No point of having it if it can't be used.

Let's let this topic die. I keep hearing people say money is important bc it pays for x and y but that's besides the point.. you would not need money to pay for anything if that wasn't what was institutionalized to be considered valuable in that it (money) and only it is accepted. I think success should be judged by intelligence and individual merit, inventiveness and creativity in things that everyone can benefit from. Why do we need money to fund research for cancer and all those other things if those things are obviously a real, tangible concern for mankind and general survival? I would work for sole satisfaction of improving my mind and the lives of others and generations to come but for the restrictions of day to day survival, which, when it comes down to it, hinges on money. I just think it's real pathetic of man to boast of how far we've come from our origins when we still use such a destructive and counterintuitive system of trade that's very obviously been constructed for the benefit of few.

If it wasn't money it would be something else, cattle, sheep, daughters... it's how humanity has always been. Money is just another form of trading to get things you need or things you want be it objects or power. There will also always be greed in the world because people instinctively covet things. The type of world you describes sounds Utopian to me and I would be all for it, HAHA... but we are not so evolved. We cannot let go of things we cannot even hope to possess. We claim land for ownership on the grounds of it being stated on piece of paper or scriptures written long ago. People kill each other every day for such things. No, we are hapless monkeys still fighting over crusts of bread.
