Who else is a loner type of person on this website?
While I was reading psychology today I found a very interesting article on loners:
https://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/200703/field-guide-the-loner-the-real-insiders
"Previous MRI studies have shown that during social situations, specific areas in the brains of loners experience especially lively blood flow, indicating a sort of over-stimulation, which explains why they find parties so wearying. But Guyer's results suggest that introverts may be more attuned to all sorts of positive experiences as well. This added sensitivity, she speculates, could mean that people who are reserved have an ability to respond quickly to situations—such as coming to your aid in a moment of need—or show unusual empathy to a friend, due to their strong emotional antennae."

I consider myself a loner. I know I'm an introvert and being around crowds or a lot of people is draining. I do consider myself sensitive to other peoples' emotions but I've also found a means of self preservation is to reject or ignore those feelings. When someone cries I can't handle it and shut down. Unfortunately this happens even with close friends who need comfort, I find I cannot fulfill that comfort to them. But in acting quickly I call up someone else who can sympathize and who can hug them and tell them it's all going to be okay.

Veru, I do the exact same thing as you. I get really quiet because I don't know what to say. I feel extremely bad, but don't know how to express my emotions.

I'm just the opposite, although I am by definition an introvert. I almost thrive on deep, emotional empathy, that is when I actually encounter someone willing to open up. There's just something so raw and human about core emotions. I tire way to easy of large groups, but give me a small, intimate group and I'm happy. Don't take this to mean I'm sappy or seek out the core of an individual, but I do enjoy learning and sharing the more meaningful things in life.

I have my moments. I just want to sit home and not do a damn thing other than veg out on the computer, play games, or just zone out and watch stuff. I definitely have times I have to force myself to go out and be social and probably where getting a gf would help in that regard a bit.
That being said, my job is retail and a decent amount of one on one time with strangers and I do enjoy gaming and spending time with friends, so I'm not a complete shut in even though I pretend to be sometimes. My friends jokingly call me "the hermit" of our group. XD

I'm a loner, I won't say I consider it because comparing myself with the usual teenagers my age I just can't bring myself to do all the exhaustive and reckless reunions, parties, situations they always do. I'm also not outgoing at all unless they talk to me first. I don't waste my time in answering pointless questions neither over extending myself. This is good also because people will never know what you're thinking so in a way it secures my freedom. Thing is, people approach me looking at my face saying "oh wow this girl must be nice" then they get disappointed and never get to meet me more, I guess it is also because if they don't pursue me I won't do the same to them. However, people that has known my true personality say I'm really refreshing, relaxed and that I always have everything in control comforting them with my confidence and kind behavior toward those I care for, also my sadistic and blunts comments I must admit I do not always point them out if they are just jokes in front of other people because they use to think I'm telling those things for real. This resulted in a lot of people fearing just being near me and doing stupid things in front of me because I kind of humiliated them without really intending to do so. These are pretty much all the cons that explains why I'm a loner. But I don't mind though.

Yeah, I'm more on Yaasshat-arafat's wavelength. Otherwise I'm a pretty archetypal lone wolf.

Pretty much a loner i mean its not that i dont want to be around people and hang out, i sort of just dont know what to do rather than to go hang out with a bunch of guys it turns into a bunch of guys hanging out and me here following them like a ghost so i guess im better off by myself, less effort spent trying to impress people and make them like me
