Why arent people more straightforward...

Just ignore these kinds of people - if they aren't willing to be honest with you and try to preemptively treat you poorly then they just aren't worth the time or energy. Your time and attention is best spent on the people that actually care.

People don't want to be straight-forward with their friends or whatever because they feel like they would hurt their feelings, etc. There's some people who can't handle that.

I am straight forward. Why should one lie? I fully condone using tact, but lying is a no no. I'm not always an ass, but when I am it's usually here.XD

As far as meeting friends on here; they are much more likely to have all sorts of social/anxiety issues. I've met a couple people on here that I've been talking to for a year or more and get along with great online that I also want to be friends with irl. Both have serious emotional anxiety type issues and took a long time before they would consider meeting. Particularly as both of them hide their irl identity online and one even goes by a different gender. So I'm not surprised by these types of things. Though I'm completely the opposite and never understood why people hide their identities and such.

I've had someone do something similar before. I tried to reach out to them everywhere, but when I got a response they just told me "I never responded on purpose." and then stopped replying with no explanation. I gave up after that.
