I don't go to cons with the agenda of flirting and hitting it up, but if it happened I wouldn't be opposed to it.

In the hopes of meeting new people as friends? Absolutely. In the hopes of landing a cute girl? Never. Cons were never made for dating purposes, they're made for fanboying and fangirling over all the awesome shite on display.

Don't cons have a panel for that? If I remember it's the Otaku speed dating panel, there was also a yaoi and yuri panel but they are all 18 plus

Going in hopes of a hookup or finding the next girlfriend? Nope. Had a few times where we almost went that route, but not my goal. Usually if I'm meeting someone at a con it's because we've met previously and are just hanging out together.

I want to try to, but I usually get too nervous to try much at all. I don't go to conventions for it either. I do hope to find a new friend, but I can't do that either... I also saw posts around the Web saying girls hate when guys flirt with them at conventions. I thought it would be a good place to meet someone to date or a friend. Is that really how the girls feel?

I haven't really met anyone either who just went to a con to hook up with someone....although at the cons I go to they do have the speed dating panel, so I can see if people would want to go there to find someone special c:
