"Did you also check the countries economic stability and its population density in comparison to other nations?
Also the education lvl? Religious background and diversity as well as availability for drugs? And how many neighboring countries exert influence upon your culture and or nations borders?"
Switzerland is in good shape in almost all respects. Maybe some corruption in the banking industry, but that's universal. The U.S. could easily improve it's educational system but would rather spend hundreds of billion on war. Drugs are a side effect of poverty and stress. "Availability" for drugs is a joke. Doesn't matter how many laws you have against drugs or controls. People can still huff glue or gasoline. Trying to control drugs is totally pointless.
The United States was founded on corruption and hypocrisy. We were taught as kids that our ancestors came here to avoid religious persecution and escape poverty. What we really did was come here and fight over different groups for land, slaughter most of the native Americans and put the few left in concentration camps we euphemistically called "reservations". Killed almost all the Buffalo and cut down many trees. We are one of the countries with the most potential who has squandered it the most. Run by a corrupt power hungry government who believe they can police the globe when they don't even bother to solve the problems at home. And we propagate non-stop violence with or culture of war and ego and self entitlement.

Availability why yes s the more illegal drugs are, the higher the chances of it becoming an object for crime. Countries who legalize some drugs ban others and regulate others, prosper with low lvl of crime because drugs do not motivate too many illegal activities. Legalization of prostitution, and laws of protection makes pmps obsolete and actually would be arrested before trying.
The u.s. can't easily improve its education system, because its base structure needs a total reform, and the system only favors those with money while poor communities have very little resources and offer limited to pretty much no help to its students. They just give off information that means nothing to them because of their environment. (drugs, violence, poverty etc)
As for your summary of the u.s. government and history ... yes its true and the very few people who have tried to change your nation alwayhs end up murdered. (Go figure)
Also don't forget corporationa own your political system not the politicians or the general public.

I'm not too crazy about it, but life in prison doesn't seem much better.

I personally believe that no one deserves to die. The death penalty in my eyes is just state sanctioned murder. Incorporating the death penalty is the hope of sending them to God or Satan quicker as repentance, and that In turn incorporates religion into government, which the wall of separation is completely violated

Wouldn't it be better if they died instead of being kept alive for a long time as a form of revenge.because if he gets killed he can't do the same crime again. If he is sent to jail he can get his case heard over and over again in court living off of the people withan actual chance of getting out because of some juror, on a retrial and commit crimes again.
You don't have to like killing but its the more logical one.

I think people should be shot for being derps. Though for any other crime they should get candy.

I definitely think that the criminally insane(with zero chance of rehabilitation) should be separated from the rest of society. For the sake of public safety.
But, many people who do crimes are able to recover if they had the proper rehabilitation and therapy. I think what Norway is doing with their prisons(therapy for non-violent criminals) would be better. I mean if you lock up someone who's done something that's not even violent, they could BECOME violent from mental instability or revenge that arises from being accused and alienated from society.
I don't think drugs always = poverty, because a lot of people who buy drugs are the rich people living in suburbs.

It's a pretty morbid topic but honestly, if someone has done something pretty damn heinous (i.e. murder, pedophilia and other sick s**t) then I honestly think they absolutely deserve it without question. But I think it should be reserved only for the most abhorrent of crimes.
