adding people and not talking to them

purefault
I think at least responding to initiated conversations is good enough, but it sucks when someone suddenly stops talking for no reason, especially when you've started talking outside of this site too. It happens to a lot of people, it seems.

There are numerous reasons why the may not be talking to you on a normal basis. Considering that online places like these encourage on the whim adding of another person it may not be valued as significantly as somebody who they have known for awhile. Of course there are those who make fast friends and then normally talk to each other afterwards. It all just depends if you feel they don't talk to you and want to remove them then that's fine. Just know that they cant be on this site specifically all of their time if they have other things in life they do as well.

Some are more talkative than others(shrug).

Some are in fact more open than others, also if I get a request, I feel like it's respectful to add them since it was requested. I hardly ever speak to someone in chat unless spoken to. However, unless someone pisses me off to the point where I really dislike them, I don't really unfriend either. Seeing as I am not the only one to be fairly unsocial in chatting.

Objectively speaking, if neither of you bothered to interact with each other, there is neither any benefit nor any penalty for deleting the contact in question. It's not going to hurt you really for deleting him or her, but you've nothing really to gain from deleting him or her either, except maybe a cleaner contacts list, but that's about it. I would personally say that you ought to at least announce your intentions to delete the contact in question with a few reasons of why you're doing so (it's more of a courtesy so you don't look like a jerk...). But yeah, as the other responses have said, try initiating the conversation first and see how it goes. To me, more often than not, you'll have to be the one who delivers the first blow....and that applies to real life as well...

I only add people if I've spoken to them for an amount of time. I don't mind if people add me as a contact however, but like others have said, I usually only respond when spoken to. I'm not used to just confronting people and being like, "HEY WHAT'S UP YO!" That being said, if we talk normally, and a fair amount of time has passed, I'll generally check up on them myself with a quick hello.

I don't think it matters much. I mean, you're not obliged to send pms to people just because they are on your friends list, I don't consider that an affront. Nor would I if anyone were to delete me.. I'm rather busy in my real life, so I understand it's not personal, if it is you may be to sentimental.

I'm hyper guilty of this, but then again, I'm not really on here often
