So many to chose from! I've watched a lot of what 2014's pumped out this year and can't wait for 2015 for second seasons and new shows! Would love to hear what others have been watching this year. Discussions on shows and recommendations both welcomed! For me... I'd recommend Akami ga Kill, Amagi Brilliant Park, Trinity 7, and Kokkuri-san.

Not many new anime are that great (to me that is). Mainly the sport anime are getting better every year. Old Anime are better than new, I would say. Creators need to kick it up a notch.

Not many from 2014 I can look back on fondly.
Gugure! Kokkuri-san as mentioned,
Gochūmon wa Usagi Desu ka?
Love Live!
Gekkan Shōjo Nozaki-kun
Tonari no Seki-kun
No Game No Life
sakura Trick
Might be missing a few, but those are the ones I remember enjoying from this year.
p.s. Anime is the plural bro.

Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka and Sora no Method were probably my favorites this year, although I really liked Zankyou no Terror until about the sixth episode where I felt like it kinda started to fall apart.

I feel like it's easy to fell into the attitude that modern anime is worse than the past, but there are still some great anime coming out every year. Just keep an open mind and try not to compare them to other anime from the past. I'm doubtful that I'll ever believe any animes are better than my favorites (ie Cowboy Bebop, FMA Brotherhood, etc.) But I loved Attack on Titan and after reading the manga, I can see it becoming one of my faves.

AniDB has a very comprehensive anime calendar that features anime dating back to 1916 (though it's mostly just scattered short films here and there during the 1910s-1950s; anime TV shows didn't begin until 1961). I've looked through it, and I actually think anime is at its best now. There's stuff that looks good to me from every decade, but far as quantity goes the 2010s definitely win out for me.
But yeah - for 2014, I think my favorites might be the two WIXOSS series. Sora no Method also.
