Okay, now your just being a smart ass. I usually enjoy a joke as much as the next guys, but not today. You know full well that those two scenarios are completely unrelated, so your argument is therefore invalid.

That last comment was directed towards yasshat. As for you neet, I see where you're coming from. But when I met someone, I don't care if they lied to people in the past. It doesn't really matter. But, if they lie to me, in the here and now, that's when it becomes a problem.

I was really close to my ex-girlfriend after we broke up. We got in a huge fight because she couldn't stand the negativity my depression was causing.
She contacted me a year later and we have been tighter ever since. Point being, if you really have a strong bond with your friend, you'll make up eventually. Just take time off of it and really think about it.

Whelp rangerchives, if you just meet the person I can understand that it would leave a very bad first impression, that much is for sure. I'm assuming you've known your friend for a while though haven't you? Personally I think the best course of action is to just try talking with the person and get their side of the story before writing them off completely. It could be they just didn't think it was that big of a deal, or maybe they're a lying sack of shit that can never be trusted, but you wont know one way or the other without talking to them about it first. You shouldn't just jump to conclusions.

Well, whenever your friend cheated on the game did you lose anything of value? Just relax, the mistake is that you are going to be holding a grudge against that friend. You have stated that you are a forgiving person, so it will feel like you are being taken advantage of, however negativity eats away at your health. There isn't enough time in our lives to be worrying about other people's mistakes, I personally have little time to take care of my own. Friends come and go, but forgiveness is the only way for the negativity to be lifted from your shoulders. Truly, I hope the best for you and your friend.

Normally I'm like you, I hate dishonesty. Though in this situation I say this, Everyone lies at times or has before at lease once in their life, Its going to happen, Now what's important is what they lie about and why. I'm not saying its good to lie it isn't. Though if you were such good friends, Then you should give them a second chance over something as a game, Certainly have fess up for what he did, But then get over it. Unless he's done more then what you let on and this is the final straw.
Me I once had a gf like two years ago, The day she broke up with me telling me she only got with me to get with my best friend(Who is like a little brother to me), she then lied to all my friends, Saying oh how I broke up with her and broke her heart like some a$$hole, Then I lost all my friends in one day. Though I waited and as you guessed she did it again, And the only one with enough sense to apologize was my best friend, I forgave him and now he listens to me more. Point of the story is you friend didn't do really anything that serious, Though this wasn't super serious I guess but the moral still stands.
Anyway that's my two cents, Hope things go well for ya.

I never lost any friends to issues but sometimes to the situations of "i got to take a side" which i like to remain nutural. Even if my greatest friends i dont like taking sides not that i dont want to support my better friend but to avoid arguments. Besides the more you add to you the bigger it gets so i stay out. But for lossing friends i mostly lose them over time. Either i msg and msg them and they give small replies where they obviously show me that they have no interest or want me to always start a convo. Eventually that dies. And i dont msg them and they wonder why we havent talked in a while. When all we talk about is hi hru good bye.

I really admire how people can contradict themselves so easily when arguing.
I'd say you have a valid point. To sort this out my friends and I would get to punch the one in the wrong once, to relieve anger. It also helps to strengthen bonds.
Also I'm sorry but over a card game seems a little extreme.

In my honest opinion, getting mad about him lying over a card game is just extreme like anigamer said. I mean no one is perfect, we are all human beings, we lie.
