Deciding on Anime

Hello, hello, hello again~
I decided to start another discussion thread today since my first thread seemed to go pretty well.
Today's question:
"How do you decide on what anime to watch next?"
This time, I'll respond too. I would have to say that I usually start off by looking up an synopsis of the anime online, then if it sounds interesting I will look up the opening sequence. For some reason the openings typically get me excited to watch what I'm about to watch. I don't always rely on this as I've seen some good anime with terrible intros, but most of the time the method works.
Usually I like to give an anime a few episodes before I completely turn away from it... Unless it's so absolutely terrible that I can't bring myself to watch anymore of it. Lucky Star was one of such animes for me.

I have a 3 step method.
1)I look for my favourite genres.
2)I pick one with a cool sounding name.
3)Check the art style.
Repeat process until I find one.

ask by buddies, if they know any good anime. They've watched more anime than I have, so they usually have like 20 new anime for me to watch.

@aschthebloody: I guess choosing at random can be a good method. You can always find things that will surprise you that way.
@anigamer1999: The art style definitely hooks me too.

@rangerchives: Usually I ask my friends too... However at the moment I have a huge list of things I need to watch... I have quite a bit of catching up to do before asking for more requests.

I go on this website called Random Curiosity to read the synopsis and check out the trailers of the shows that interest me. Then I compare with my friends lol. After I start watching I usually give the anime 3-5 episodes to impress me and if I like it then I'll keep watching. If I don't, then I drop it. I also pick anime based on popularity too, like if I see a lot of hype going around an anime I wasn't considering watching then I'll check it out, I did that with Parasyte, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Fate Zero, Shingeki no Kyojin, and more lol.

@Panza: Yeah, I checked out Shingeki no Kyojin because it was popular too.

once the new season approaches I look for the latest version of whatever chart is floating around for the season. I go down the list as see what looks interesting and if the Synopsis sounds good I'll take note of it and check in on TT every so often till it's subed. I also keep an eye on who produced it since there are some studios I avoid like the plague, sometimes this applies to the staff too. Usually I try to pick around 7 or so shows so I'd have one for each day of the week. Sometimes I'll check out mahou for air dates and organize my daily schedule accordingly. I should also add I tend to avoid anything with a description that starts with "____ is a normal high school boy etc" I've already seen far too many of those type of shows for one life time.
For older shows I go off a similar principle; whatever looks and sounds interesting. sometimes I'll go off the recommendations of buddies if I respect their opinion on the matter.
