I guess it depends on your shyness. I'm shy cause I have an anxiety disorder, but have found some great natural herbal remedies that help.

something that helped me was (if you're in school) answer all of the teacher's questions in class. this is good practice, yet you have some excuse to talk because it's a educational environment/situation. of course, think about the answer a bit first, so you don't sound like an idiot :P
personally, i wait a few seconds until i know nobody is going to answer the teacher, then i answer
and if you're employed, ask your boss (if they're approachable and friendly) questions that you have about your job. you'll appear to be a go-getter employee as a bonus.
i don't like to speak out of the blue, so i feel comfortable speaking out in these situations since i have a professional excuse at the time :P

Force yourself to do things that you are normally uncomfortable to do. You can take little steps each day.. practice forming conversations in your mind or talk to yourself in the mirror lol (eye contact, smiling, try to appear approachable).. and then go out and talk to random people who are by themselves (can start out with small talk and short ones.. and then move on to longer conversations as you get more comfortable). Eventually it will get easier for you as you practice and it won't be as scary anymore. I know it's scary, but what's the worst that can happen if you try? If it goes bad, you can just leave and never see them again. It will help build your self esteem too because at least you know you are trying and when you actually do it :D you will feel like you're in control and have conquered some of your fear, good job! This is what I personally did, and I can be more outgoing and do small talk with people more easily now (used to be Extremely quiet and shy).. it helped me make friends by not being scared of taking the initiative. Just a suggestion!

I learned how to be more outgoing while at my previous job. Part of my work involved customer service, so I had to talk to people to help them with whatever they needed. After that job, I still was fighting some shyness but it was easier for me to talk to someone who I didn't know.

Also, hanging around some of my more outgoing friends has helped.

Overcoming shyness can take time, and it's not a thing that can be rushed. You don't want to rush yourself, but you do want to take risks.

I also like to call it, forming my back-bone. Gaining the strength to handle not being shy around someone and the confidence to be myself.

I gotta try that. Actually, last time I approached smoeone she kinda told me to f___ off. How do you deal with that kind of rejection? Any and all suggestions are appreciated :)

consider the worst thing most of the people we deal with can do to us is tell us to fuck off I consider that a good day outright rejection is easy you pick your face off the ground. And move on to the next one. Once you get over the fear of rejection in ernest theirs really nothing to be worried about it.

Obviously there is no magic phrase that I or anyone else can say that will be absolutely life changing and suddenly you'll be outgoing. I recommend reading a few books that I've read myself and they've helped me. How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, How to Have Confidence and Power in Dealing with People by Les Giblin, and Personality Plus by Florence Littauer.

Why would you want to talk to someone who asked you to "fuck off" anyways? You can always try again with that person to see if you get a better reaction, or maybe find it better to just move on.
