There's people here somewhere, but there's a lot of bots and scammers, so be wary. Those of us who are real people are mostly insane... so hopefully you'll find someone who sings the song of your people. Good luck matey.

I don't typically do these kinds of things, I've always been a reserved person, but I've decided to try something new. I will interact with this website as much as I can, and hopefully I can make connections!
Nice to meet anyone who reads this post, I am willing to talk about most any topic with anyone who wants to do so, but please steer clear from politics.

Aye, that's right. Lots of interesting people hiding in the woodwork. Though I don't know if I'm interesting enough to merit much long term attention.
I happen to like most music as well. I've been listening to a lot of Irish ballads lately. Are you familiar with that genre?

Oh wow, you've a whole story and everything you've been working on huh? Never ceases to amaze how many fascinating people are just here
BurningHalo @burninghalo Well I suppose that depends on whose talking to you (: amd I am SOMEWHAT familiar with the genre in that I listen to songs that fall under it. But im not someone who knows the history of it. What sorts of songs have you been really into lately?
yuuzora @yuuzora Probably early wartime ballads like Danny Boy, but I have a soft spot for a song called Foggy Dew. It's interesting how the Irish managed to maintain a national identity despite the oppression of the Crown. Are you familiar with Irish history at all?
BurningHalo @burninghalo Danny Boy is a classic for sure. But im not familiar with Irish history. I am however keen on interesting stories and the meaning behind culture, and so Id be happy to learn about it
yuuzora @yuuzora Irish history, as I learned it from me granddad, spans the entire human history, as homo sapiens came to the island before the pyramids in any of the world were built. The ancient tales call those people the Ao Sidhe who were said to be mystical beings that befriended the Fae. Of course, who knows how true any of that is. All I know is that the Ao Sidhe gave way to the Ires Gaeilge who are considered the native people of the land. They're where you get all those Faerie tales and the powerful Druids, who were actually mostly women in those days. Since that didn't mesh well with the patriarchal systems that came with the advent of Celts and Catholicism, they tried awfully hard to bury that truth. From there, medieval history is a bit of a debate, since there are contrary records on when the British bamboozled some of the Celtic kings and queens into giving them a stake in their island home. Some say it was during the 2nd century AD but others argue the take over didn't start happening until much later when Henry the 2nd started the battle with his father over control of Normandy. From there, there's bouts of battling, genocide on the Celts and Ires up until 1922 when the Irish were reeling from WW1. It was a Sunday Easter morning when the uprising began. That's where the song Foggy Dew is helpful since it details that event. It wasn't until 1997 that the battling finally ended in a peace deal between Britain and Ireland and where the border in North Ireland was created. That's where we're at now. Being a Connolly with relation to Jim Connolly of the original 16 that started the uprising, it's all intertwined with my family history. Do you know much about your family history?
BurningHalo @burninghalo Well damn, i do know a bit of Irish lore from study for dnd campaigns(wanting to be historically accurate to some degree). BECAUSE OF THIS the Fae make me...on guard xD also Id always thought his name was James but maybe Im thinking of a different guy(we have a monument of him in Chicago funny enough. So it'd be really REALLY cool if I was speaking to one of his relatives)
But as for my own family history, I know a great deal about my father's side in Jamaica but I actually surprisingly know very little about my mother's. I should discuss it with her. By chance, are you at all familiar with the band Blind Guardian?
