Lisanthur @sanfi Mhmm, I don't think age is that important. My dad is 62 and my mom is 52 and they've been married for almost 30 years. My sister is 24 and her boyfriend 38 and they've been together for 5 years, living together for 4 years. There's thins that matter way more than age

ᎶᏗᏁᎶᏕᏖᏗ ᏰᏗᏰᎩ @candystarmagic i understand. but, hear me out. i wouldn’t say age actually matters if i didn’t have any expectations with that. i am eighteen. i actually had a boyfriend and he was twenty six. in real life. it was all fun till the moment he wanted me to move in and leave my mom behind. all i want to do right now is focus on my studies, get into really good university and work to have some money to buy clothes, makeup and such stuff every girl at my age cares about. he wanted something else, something i could not give him. he is actually at the age when it’s even normal to set down and make a family. and there’s me, who is just ready to party and pARTY. so, the point of this is, age matters. but depends on the person as well. but that’s my experience.

Lisanthur @sanfi In all honesty, I have not. I think there's strength in growing with people who help you. I'm in the last year of becoming a psychologist. It would be kind of hypocritical if I didn't believe in asking for help. Why'd you ask? You ever had trouble with pride over asking help?

Neverland @dakoya Yep, a long time ago I did and recently again now. I think I have trouble asking people for help b/c they seem to not be able to help. Which kind of puffs up the "evil" pride in me. Like "oh I'm too smart for anyone to be able to help me" and "anyone who can help me already has their hands full". So I've learned to just kind of deal w/ things on my own and it's always messed w/ me and made me dislike myself a bit... ~__~.

Lisanthur @sanfi One of the most important things in therapy: try everything the person tells you to try and when they say they don't think that works stop. Not before that, but only when they say you can. They will come up with new suggestions. Not everything will work for every person. If you really want help, that should be your main approach and it will help you (in general, because there is of course also psychopathology that isn't as easily helped, like DID, but that's a complately different story)

Neverland @dakoya Well, maybe one day if I have the time and money I'll take a look into it. I always assume people don't really need any "help" like that until they start becoming destructive to themselves and/or others.

Lisanthur @sanfi I'd say there's no excuse for not at least trying to be happy. Not saying you should ignore all other emotions. Actually I'm saying the opposite: feeling all amotions, even the sad ones are what make a person happy in a way. I'm not sure if what I mean is coming across well like this, but the aim should be that you live your life in such a way that at the end you can say that it was at least a nice life, you know what I mean?

Neverland @dakoya Yea, but most people don't think in that aspect. They take a day one at a time. You roll with w/e the day gives you. Living in the present and the now, gives people no time to appreciate the moment (in most cases). I think most of us only realize that stuff when we're old or married. When they have time to actually stop and think about things. Reminds me a bit of the movie "click" w/ adam sandler. I think you're quite the optimistic for thinking of these things, but I'm highly doubtful that you can follow them yourself. Not saying it's impossible, just difficult to do. It'd be great if I was able to have this mindset myself. I'd probably be much happier.

Lisanthur @sanfi I get that you're thinking of it that way. I try to live the way that fits me most. Way of least resistence. It works often, but not all of the time. It just works for me
