Happy Halloween to you too! Yeah, it really says a lot about an author if his works are appreciated by other authors from completely different genres, when you put into perspective authors of different genres like Tolkien, Seuss, King (who also was a fan of Lovecraft), Rowling, Poe, Verne, and others are likewise praised across genre lines. I think I may have heard of that story you're talking about, or perhaps I am thinking of something else, because I don't remember hearing about it being steampunk. Do you like Steampunk?

Well, I first got into him when I was 16 years old. And I guess the fact no one has created anything that resembles his fiction beyond the surface level before or after his life. Sure, other authors since then have written stories contributing to the mythos, but nothing apart from that could come close to comparison. Many of his stories were also very much ahead of their time with themes like forbidden knowledge, atheism, cosmic threats to humanity generally unexplored in fiction during his time and still wouldn't be largely explored for years to come after his death. Furthermore, nobody combined fantasy, horror, and sci-fi the way he did. And at the end of the day, most of the time, he can write a good story.

Might be a bit longer than a short story, it's longer than "The Call of Cthulhu", but shorter than "At The Mountains of Madness".

Haha it was rather creepy indeed. To be honest I dont really read short stories, I looked for one of the shortest stories i've read and its still 928 pages long.. I'll look for short stories from some of my favourite authors, or if you think you can read that pretty quick we can go with that anyway.
