I may get flack for this but even though I find Sailor Moon to be an alright anime, I actually can't stand the main character Usagi Tsukino. When I was younger I didn't mind, but as I've gotten older I've realized just how shallow she is as a character. Also I actually had a really bad experience with an otaku girl that *loved* Sailor Moon and for that I always associate Sailor Moon with not being good enough and not living up to expectations. So yes I think the story is fine, but the concept that the Sailor Scouts are these ascended beings that are destined for true love while the rest of the world falls apart is just elitist and why I never became fully invested in the show/fandom.
