Yes, it is. XD I think that it is comparable to how Hawaii is to the USA. Like Hawaii it was considered its own nation/country/culture before, so it is pretty different even if everyone speaks Japanese.

It's actually my mother's maiden name, but I've grown to like it. It's unique even to Japanese, but it is also a town name in Okinawa, and I was born in Okinawa too so it does have a pretty strong personal connection too. As for me, most of my friends just call me Kouki.
