godspell @godspell The issue with the riddler is that they destroy the riddler reputation. He had a huge boom after the 66 batman show. However a writer decided after he had a long successful time. That he made the whole thing up in his mind and that he's a d rank villain. So writers have the tendency to write him as a loser. And now people thought he was a loser until Paul dano had the role.
godspell @godspell Also it keeps people from writing fun stories of the riddler in this format since they know the popularity of story wouldn't be there. Unlike the joker. Which is why joker in my top 5 instead of top 3

Lamby @momoichi i forget, did you end up reading tokyo ghoul? furuta is the best archetype for the joker. taking control of the uncontrollable and forcing a smile and making everything a punchline because if you dared take anything serious, youd lose that control over it. humor is one of the best (unhealthy) coping mechanisms because it takes control away from something, you now paint it with your own brush, a humorous one. again, unhealthy but i think that would be peak joker, and i think thats the joker we got from arthur to some extent

godspell @godspell Because the voice actor and dialogue were perfect for him. The obsessive compulsion to be more intelligent than anyone was his driving force into fighting batman. His riddles really drove home how annoying he is in the comics or anywhere for the never ending riddles

godspell @godspell That's easily S tier. But sting is easily the best Futurama episode. Stench one about zoidberg finally getting a happy ending before the last episode. He finds a girlfriend who can't smell his terrible stench. But she always wanted to smell flowers. So in a selfless act he gives her the nose transplant to smell. Instead of leaving him. She loves his smell and hates flowers. In my opinion this is a fantastic episode summing all the parts of zoidberg everyone forgets. He is the nicest member

godspell @godspell I think it's quite something they could animate it like a fever dream. The more you rewatch the episode the more you see the signs it was a Coma. All the dream fry presents are in the hospital room with Leela meaning fry would bring her gifts. It illustrates the love fry has for Leela and her to him.

Even batman can't stop him from influencing the stock market to make himself rich. The penguin a genius. You also see how he dreams of himself. As a gentleman thief. But batman waits long enough that penguin gets bored. And strikes out to fight batman again in Wayne manor bc he wanted to buy it
godspell @godspell It also shows his childhood how he manipulates people with money and blackmails them. A character that appears in the story is his ex prom date he bought with money. But blackmails her to kiss him and pretend to be in love or he'll tell everyone he bought her. She is the same sadly and let's herself to be bought bc she wants to kill him

Batman would weekly check in on him beating up his guards to tell him to stay on the path. But the darkness in Oswald couldn't be contain. He has a scrap book of how he destroyed people lives who spite or bully him. He had the chef restaurant close to a vermin problem. He ends up losing his wife to divorce and kids from a custody battle. And he has a liquor store built in front of his apartment since he knows he was addicted to liquor. Then he kills himself. Girl finds out calling him a monster and he gives her back to the black market

The penguin has always been at his weakest when he falls for someone. In the 60s he gave up crime for a pen pal he had in prison. This is sorta like that. But done well to illustrate what would happen if he was given love he never had. Like on valentines day he was beaten up by girls and then unless pigeons he was rasing

He was a private eye detective solving cases. He even worked with batman and the dialogue amazing. Bc he is a better detective than batman in some cases
Lamby @momoichi to be fair, i dont care much about the riddler as a character outside this specific iteration. all of batmans villains are amazing, though riddler is too over the top for my liking in most of his iterations. after nashton i love the riddler from the arkham games. that haughty asshole that taunts and forces you to play with him.
godspell @godspell I think there are mostly good iterations of him. Like there's a good chunk of comics for him. But I can never forgive when the writer in charge makes him look like a damn loser. He isn't a loser with a lame gimmick!

Lamby @momoichi i dont think he has ocd, just looping thoughts and obsessive tendencies. hes not really attention seeking either, i think hes more like a normal shy person. he wants friends, but friends are hard to make, and especially so when everyone is a dick to you. and when you do try (with the woman on the train) you only ever get punished. i think this is where the matt reeves riddler thrives, hes so down to earth and understandable. relatable in this way.

Lamby @momoichi doesnt ocd force you to follow strict regimens? like, you have to flick the lights on three times when you enter a room? or washing your hands til theyr white or red? or that the sky will fall if you dont walk up the last step ont he stairs twice? i think ocd is more of a way to control your environment as a way of controlling your life. i had some mild ocd when i was younger because of my anxiety. anxiety does give you racing, intrusive, and looping thoughts, but it has to be rreaalll bad to give you ocd. i think he just has bad anxiety and a bit of apophenia

He cares about the better parts of him instead of him as a whole. The best of morty got left behind on what morty could be. Confident defiant.

godspell @godspell I think Planetina was amazing. It reminds you of how first love and first heartache always is. It shows so much of morty raw character analysis. He was resilient and would do anything he can to make her happy even though they didn't have anything in common. Normally morty would run away from danger but he didn't. Love is crazy. Not only is morty at a focal point
godspell @godspell But Beth as well as a mom. She sees what's going on and knows where it was going. Because they had conflicting interests and goals that conflicts with their moral ground. But Beth not at fault when morty lashes out. At the end of the episode when they break up morty has to end it. Even though his heart says don't do it. And his mom is there to provide the support he needs.

Well considering their name is degenerate and a racist name for their location probably trolling. I told them I hate how you did this. It's incredibly frustrating to find this on my thread. godspell @godspell Yeah but keep in mind for Gojo he's a forced God by people. He's made to carry all the work for organization. His one true goal is for kids not to be exploited by sorcerers no more. That they can grow to be an adult and be strong. Jujutsu kaisen whole premises is that the world is broken that we shouldn't exploit children in the battle of adults. Kids are made to take on missions and groomed/rape in the series. Taken away too sook

Lamby @momoichi idk. i think jujutsu is like, sky high shounen. where the stakes are rewards are always high. people are the STRONGEST and stuff. so many extremes. chainsawman was surprisngly down to earth at the end of the day despite its chaotic nature. i really cant properly put down jujutsu as i just dont know it well enough (i will say though for the anime putting that emohairbulliedguy in the op was genius, i truly was blindsided by his death) but there really arent any shounens like chainsawman just by the virtue of how down to earth it was back in the day. i think the general theme (despite the biblical stuff) is about how contentment > happiness. denji's 'i dont want one gf, i want 100!! i dont want toast with jam i want steak!' was about how happiness is a carrot on a stick, but the content he felt with his family was the true goal. and its very clear that pochita making the contract 'live a good/happy life' is what keeps hanging denji's happiness in the balance. like, how many manga can claim something this simple yet have all this chaos going on in the background at the same time?

Lamby @momoichi like, the driving force of chainsawmans plot is denji's happiness. and happiness in general. like war devil wanting a friend but she cant cause shes the WAR devil, chainsaw devil wanting a hug but he cant cause hes the CHAINSAW devil, the control devil wanting a healthy relationship (family) but she cant because shes the CONTROL devil. the message seems to be consistantly the struggle for things you cant have, and how we can overcome this. like denji and happiness.
godspell @godspell I can argue that with jujutsu kaisen. Gojo wants to flip the etiquette of the jujitsu world where no kid should be exploited. No kid should suffer injustices just because they were born with curse energy and thrust into hell. Its an anthesis to series like blue exorcist or any Shonen that sends kids into the front lines or being the protangists when their lives will never be normal again. Or they lose their lives young. Yeah people are made saying luffy new form shouldn't be compare to Goku super saiyan first time. But hello same studio did both.

godspell @godspell Heaven is a real thing in marvel. There are different planes of the afterlife present in the series. In black panther and Egyptian after life. Well Gamora back bc marvel forced it to happen so they can have her around. Gunn would have rather her dead. But he wrote her in on how people shouldn't force their affection on others. But it's sadder Quill has to say goodbye to her again. And accept they were great and move on from her. That's why he decides to go back to earth to confront the things he ran from. Quill wanted to kill evolutionary bc losing rocket was almost like losing his mom again
godspell @godspell Groot story was over. We only see the evolution of his alien species. He's rocket son bc he isn't groot from the first movie he just has groot memories. And he saw Gamora as his mom that's why it's pretty sad around her and when she finally understands him. And when we hear him say I love you guys. It's bc we've been around groot enough to understand his language

That she's not the same she didn't care until later about giving up rocket. I don't see them ever interacting again tbh. I think it was more prominent to show nebula feelings for rocket more so than anyone else. She loves rocket as her best friend. He was there with her for 5 years together. Someone that's never felt any love from anyone but rocket was always there for her

Lamby @momoichi she gave him shit but, as i recall could be wrong, no one else was. and he was rewarded in the end. because he kept pushing her she stayed and because she stayed theyr on good terms, so this is justifying his actions. bro one of the best things about the movie (i did absolutely enjoy parts of it, again the humor was great and the set design was also great) was all the nebula. i fuckin love her and her character growth. plus gamora always looked lame, just green skin, nebula looked bad ass, like an alien should. i cant wait for more of her. if she got with peter it would be creepy since he was involved with her dead sister BUT i cant help but enjoy their chemistry. the reformed hardass and the philip j fry esque loveable screwup. that being said, why would she care more about rocky than mother fucking GROOT

The whole premise for the movie is to show all the missing pieces to the story. Hank disappear to find himself. And it's a whole man hunt to find him bc somehow they can't find him
