This might seem generic but The Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Leguin is a nice High Fantasy novel. I can recommend Rowan of Rin by Emily Rodda too but that is aimed at young audiences. For anyone looking for a cool Sci-fi I highly recommend Dark Eden by Chris Beckett. Just like Game of Thrones it is brimming with uncomfortable incest.
