The Sway of Religion/Culture

This has been on my mind a lot lately. I know everyone views this subject differently and it differs from person to person. BUT Am i the only person who thinks it's stupid that people are willing to stop loving someone or something they enjoy doing because their Religion or Culture "prohibits" them to? Don't get me wrong, I could careless if people are religious and stuff but these type of acts make me question people o_O.
