Ah, I confess right when mists started I quit because I didn't like the design choices, but the lore was quite intriguing. In vanilla, we all had to endure the agony of running for 40 slow painful levels, then hope we had about 90g to fork over for the regular mount. Then we had to be rich to get our epic ground mount at 60. Barrens chat lasted longer because leveling was slower, and STV was basically known as STVietnam on PVP servers.

I confess I'm going to have to promote this private server Elysium now, if anyone would like to try vanilla out. It's scripted quite well, they (I presume despite the drama) have the Nostalrius core, which is quite good. I was going to play on a BC private server called Felmyst, but Gummy tried running it here in the states and he had it up for a whole 5 hours before shutting it down upon receiving a cease and desist letter from Blizzard. Elysium doesn't have this issue because they host overseas, harder for Blizzard to do anything. I honestly feel bad for the guy because he spent 4 years making it and didn't even so much as accept a single donation. I'm trying a different BC private server out currently but have mixed feelings about the group running it, because they have cash shops... which are quite honestly the servers that deserve to be shutdown. It's one of those things where I totally get it's Blizzard's intellectual property and it's 100% in their right to put a stop to these things, but they have proven time and time again that they have no interest in making legacy servers of their own. It's pretty unfortunate, the companies behind Everquest and Runescape have pleased their legacy crowd.
