It does become second nature. If you can, get a good gps that will help fear of getting lost.

Google maps saves lives.
Without that I'd be screwed because I've 0 sense of direction...
And also it's great for finding food to eat

Navigating becomes second nature after a while also. You get used to how the area your at is laid out and even if you've never been somewhere you can find it pretty easy.

Fearing you're own personal transportation and freedom to just go wherever and whenever you like? Nah, can't fear a little freedom. I was nervous when I first started to drive aaaaaannnnd...i may have gone thru three vehicles in less than ten years (Pfffft... it not my fault other drivers weren't aware I was on the road.XD), but no injuries or deaths or lawsuits or major traffic violations. The first step in conquering any fear, is to face it. Besides, unless you live in a metropolitan city or just want to live out your days as a total recluse, driving is sort of a necessity. Don't have money to get a car? Get a job, any job will do, as long as it pays. I'd suggest starting off buying from an individual rather than a dealership. By buying used, you'll learn about car problems, how to fix them and besides, it's much cheaper than brand new, short term anyways.

I zone out all the time when driving tbh.
But only when it's my daily commute. If it's new or not a usual drive I don't zone out lol

I've lost count how many times I've been driving behind a certain vehicle, arrive at my destination, then realize I have no idea what happened to the car that was in front of me.
