Not much different from today's doctors. Little more than drug dealers. If I got plague I could join a self flagellation group traveling from town to town. It's a win-win https://c.tenor.com/1Ch5pxo6UJAAAAAC/lupin-the-third-lupin-iii.gif

I still don't get why you would want to be one- plague doctors often lacked medical training and were referred to as "empirics." Plague doctors were known as municipal or "community plague doctors", whereas "general practitioners" were separate doctors and both might be in the same European city or town at the same time. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/a0/5b/2b/a05b2b2cc8a953dac227189bcfd83f3a.gif

But thank God at least they didn't push people to get vaccinated. Humanity dodged a bullet in the 1300's. No Plauge doctor Fauci.

You're missing the point, Some plague doctors wore a special costume consisting of an ankle-length overcoat and a bird-like beak mask, often filled with sweet or strong-smelling substances (commonly lavender), along with gloves, boots, a wide-brimmed hat, and an outer over-clothing garment. However, the costume was not worn by all medieval and early modern physicians studying and treating plague patients. The mask had two small nose holes and was a type of respirator which contained aromatic items. The beak could hold dried flowers (including roses and carnations), herbs (including lavender and peppermint), camphor, or a vinegar sponge, as well as juniper berry, ambergris, cloves, labdanum, myrrh, and storax. The purpose of the mask was to keep away bad smells, known as miasma, which were THOUGHT to be the principal cause of the disease. Doctors believed the herbs would counter the "evil" smells of the plague and prevent them from becoming infected. Do you think that really worked? https://c.tenor.com/vBTcA_EnDKQAAAAM/anime-renge.gif

Ghost is also failing to see that the Black Plauge is not as sexy as Leprosy. Peel that skin wholesale right off the bone baby!

I think you're missing the point. I don't care about the risk. Plus I get nice smelling herbs. https://c.tenor.com/ClQHQbDp9EAAAAAC/lupin-the-third-lupin-iii.gif
