Saddest anime deaths?

xcelestialxwingsx
Rosette and Chrono's death(Chrono Crusade). Minato,Kushina,Jiraiya and Itachi's death hit me pretty hard but not as much as Rosette and Chrono's.

I always thought Spike's death was fitting. Not in the sense of him deserving it, just that... it was the right end for his character. It didn't feel unjust and untimely the way, say, Shirley's did in CG.

Fitting yes, and symbolically spot on, it was a 'good' death... Bang ... and it tore me up, as did a few others mentioned. Shirley's thought... IDK. To me it was more shocking the tragic. In the end I think her death was more symbolic of the death of Lelouche's Hope then anything else. Yet agian, it doesn't take away the sadness, or the tears, but if you rationalize the entire 'fitting' aspect.... the majority of these are also up for speculation :) Oh and the Going Merry comment.... dear god, Fully agree, and it's over a boat.... hehe, cried like a little kid.

Indeed Kenshin Himura's death was so sad (the greatest protagonist in shounen genre IMO) IDK why Watzuki made Himura's death like that i thought it wasn't right after the first time i read it "You live by sword and you die by sword" one of the quotes in Rouruni Kenshin yet he died in illness but at the end of the day i can't see someone beating him so i guess the death was ok.

@battlecry - I never finished that series, but judging by what you said, it would sound like an analogy to Miyamoto Musashi.
