The Scarlet Order /// A Book I'm Working On

Hi there! One of those deep, underground passions I have always had was an infallible love for literature. It’s always been a dream of mine to one day complete a book and possibly have it published. Though it’s just a far off dream of mine, I was wondering if any of you would like to take a quick peek at what I have been working on for the past few weeks! If you’re interested in hearing the plot I have been working out, just keep reading below! I would greatly appreciate any feedback you may have!

The Setting: The Scarlet Order is a blend of science fiction and light fantasy. Taking place in a bleak, post-apocalyptic future, mankind has utterly destroyed themselves in a catastrophic, biological war known as The Reckoning. With the deaths of billions of people, humanity utterly destroyed the planet that they once lived on, making the planet’s air unbreathable and the surface uninhabitable. As space travel is not a technology yet refined in this world, mankind was forced off the surface of the planet and above the clouds. In the sky, entire kingdoms thrive on floating cities known as Amalgams. Destroying their planet did not bring humanity any closer to peace, however, and wars, feuds and conflicts continue to rage in the air. Mankind is constantly faced with a grim reminder of its dark past, however. The unbreathable air means that outdoors, people must always wear gas masks to filter the noxious fumes out of the air.

The Plot: The Scarlet Order begins in the Kingdom of Ecclesia, a small, yet influential kingdom that holds significant political power. It revolves around a deep family feud between a king and his first born son, his eventual heir to the throne. The King of Ecclesia is corrupt, scheming and evil. He staged the assassination of his wife, the Queen of Ecclesia, so that he could remarry the daughter of one of the other, more powerful kingdoms. As part of his secret agreement with this other kingdom, the son that the two would have together must become the heir to the throne. There’s just one problem, the king already has a son. In order to maintain power, this king must now devise a way to secretly kill his son. Since he already assassinated one member of his family, it would be too much of a coincidence to just murder his son too. Instead, the king decides to send his son on a suicide mission, hoping that he would never return. To everyone's shock, however, the Prince does return. Even worse, he returns a hero. Frightened by his son's return, the king has no choice but to send him on mission after mission, hoping that one day the boy will get himself killed. Each mission the Prince goes on, he becomes stronger and more infamous, eventually breaking free from his father's grip and overthrowing him... I'm actually writing a book too. only have 11-13 pages done
