a "darker" outlook on life

Someone I know believes 0 people would like someone like this. What are everyone's thoughts on those who have this mentality about life: That life will bitch slap you around, some people will never know hardship while others know nothing but hardship, it will never go the way you want, but you still need to go through it.

Personally, I don't think that is dark, but some I know do. That is not my exact mentality, but I share similarities with it.

That’s not a dark outlook that’s just the way life is, you’re either a person that keeps getting up every time life beats you down or you’re a person that stays down and lets life kick you in the ribs.

To me that's more of a logical look on life those who are gifted are treated different from those who work hard at something. which is basically what your friend is pointing out that those who are lucky to be gifted with money or status don't put as much effort or work as hard as people who earn there money and status.
