A Trip to Japan

akehebo
Hello minna-san! I'm planning a trip to Japan for April 2014. I'd like to hear your tips and advice. (which Hotel to go, wich place to visit, things like that). I'm definitly going to Akihabara during this trip so things near Tokyo will be best.

Lol I just went. It was great. I stayed at Oak Hotel in a private room in Ueno and it was nice. I disliked Tatami Beds, but many rooms had real beds. Go to Mickey House in Takadanobaba on a Friday or Saturday and you'll meet cool people who are learning English and so you'll be popular. :)

I've checked the booking for the Oak Hotel and it says 37$. it's 37$ for the night right? that's way too low to be true XD and I asked for 14 days and it's not even saying 37$/days so I'm wondering if it's could even be for the whole 14 days ahahah

I've too have been planning a trip to toyko. There are so many nice and cheap hotels that I've found, but most of them have a shared wash room. Which if you have tattoos like me, it's not a good idea cause tattoos are 'bad' to most people there. Try Expedia.com they have amazing deals and you can get a general idea about prices and different types of hotels.

thanks for the tip ^^ the shared washeroom doesn't bother me that much, I don't have my tatoo yet.

Sure thing! You must be so excited to be planning this trip! I know I'm always very giddy when researching my trip that will happen at some point. ^_^

I've been last spring. It was fun. Make sure that you tell your bank a few weeks before leaving that you will use your debit/credit outside the country so you won't get block.

Been to Japan 7 times it was pretty fun but of course it was when I was a young kid. Haven't been their since I was 13. Planning to visit some relatives in Tokyo summer of 2014. You should visit Kyoto, Osaka, and Akihabara. Those cities were awesome. Also you should definitely buy a rail pass it's super cheap compared to buying the train tickets in Japan.

I'm going in September for a week for the Tokyo game show. For hotels in the middle of Tokyo the best-cheapest (with own bathroom) i found is the Washington Shikoku hotel. Its in a great location close the the main train station (5 min walk). If you book on there website you don't have to pay upfront, free cancellation, and discounts for multiple days, and you reserve the room in yen which is useful if you keep track of monetary values, saves me 10 dollars a night after a yen spike.
