You think that's bad? Try having to go through 2 Seasons of kimi ni todoke and the main characters don't kiss. Only in the manga you finally see one. (ﾉ￣д￣)ﾉ I was never more disappointed with a romance anime in a year.
Possibility: The manga goes beyond the anime, and (if I remember correctly) is an ongoing series, so they could just be waiting for a Season 3 opportunity.
But yeah that irritated the hell out of me, it's like there's no closure.
That really brings up the fact that there's so many adaptions of on going manga these days you just know when the series starts it's not gonna reward you with a payoff. Honestly I barely watch shoujo anymore just because of that fact. Reading the source material is more rewarding to me.
Oh don't get me startwd. Air gear, Tenjho Tenge, Kaze no Stigma (although that has a justified reason), Darker Than Black, Freezing, Infinite Stratos, Spice and Wolf. I could go on forever but the queen of tickin me off with unfinished anime and manga is Rumiko Takahashi. We love your work and stories. Just give me a satisfactory ending. Inuyasha, half assed ending, Ranma never ends up with any of the girls com'on, Ursei Yatsura no clear endin. And each of these shows went on forever. Give me my endin Miss Takahashi!
