Dating or Social Network?

sarahdemona
To me it seems that this site is more of a social networking site rather than an actual dating site. While I understand that this was advertised on the homepage, how many people here are actually finding a good long term relationship? I'm really interested to know.

I never heard anyone on here that had success.. but I mean, anything can happen. I kinda want that to be the least of my problems. Love happens when you don't expect it in my opinion.

I think that too. I can recall several accounts where my friends have stopped looking for love only to have it whack them in the face right then. I was just skimming the forums and saw a bit of conversation on that which made me start to wonder if there were any success stories yet, or if this site is more in the trend of a social network.

I haven't found anyone here, nor do I know anyone who has, but I've made some wonderful friends, and, who knows from there. Just patience is all I can offer.

All those people who haven't been on the site in two years They're all dating or married now But for serious, I don't have a clue Saying the site is mostly about dating would be like saying the same thing for an anime convention Which is funny because I've been in some dating games at conventions which were awesome Maiotaku needs dating games! I think a lot of people are shy and afraid. I made some hook-ups but nothing as far as a long term relationship. I agree that MaiOtaku needs to evolve more into a dating site because otherwise it will keep getting off track. This site also needs more publication.

I agree that most are probably shy and aren't very straight forward about looking for a relationship. It's more convenient to think that becoming friends might eventually lead to something more, or to hope that someone will approach you. I like the site a lot though. There's a lot of nice and interesting people. A more pro-dating scheme might be better. But the people who run the site may just not have the money or resources in order to advance it yet.

While I do nit kind making new friends and such, I did join here hoping to find that special someone. But It seems like 90% of poeple on here are using this site for social networking. But there are plenty of places for that already so would be nice if this place became a bit more focused on dating. Just my 2 cents

My first thoughts when I first heard of this site were pretty doubtful. I mean, otaku dating site = oxymoron, right? Most otaku are used to having a wall put up already because of the very nature of society's 'rules'. Reserved + reserved = Even More Reserved. I'm here because I'm tired of 'not clicking' because of the culture clash. I've never dated a gamer or an otaku, and I figured it'd be nice to relax and have someone on my team that understands already. There's nothing worse than having to tell a chick you're with to just go home because she can't take being at a con, let alone trust you enough to let you go by yourself. Bah... Anyways, yep, I'm here for dating (though I'm really not expecting much from the very nature of this site).
