Otaku Parents, when is it too young to start out your kids on the path to otakudom

junokami
I'm the proud father of a 5 year old little boy, and he's awesome. to mark his true otaku heritage he has already named his kitten pikachu, and he has developed an exceedingly good taste for japanese cuisine(not to mention an affinity for pocky). His mother insists dressing him up as a moogle would be a step too far but I'm working on her about it. I just saw a thread about is it possible to be too old to enjoy anime...so i ask...when is too young? and btw I am responsible when it comes to exposing him to anything not age appropriate, but there is plenty accessable to all ages..any thoughts, stories, or rambling diatribes you have would be most interesting.

Dude, have him watch pokemon and Yu Gi Oh you just can't go wrong with them!! It's okay to share hobbies and interests with your kids just don't shove it down their throats. Let him decide on how he wants to dress and what he wants to watch. Honestly I feel it's never too young if you start out with kid friendly anime. They're just cartoons, if he likes it he's gonna watch it. You can't corrupt your kid If you're simply watching Ash Ketchup hunt for pokemons all day.

There is no such thing as too young for an otaku ^^ Sure, If you were showing your child ecchi, intense violence or H then other rules would count for it.. But, Id say it is a good move ^^ I 2nd Chibi's comment.. Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Digimon.. We all grew up watching those three, Therefore it wouldn't be wrong to lead on the legacy ^^ Show him those, and he'll naturally come along.. Be proud ^^

I 3rd Chibi"s comment!! Pokemon and Yugioh can"t corrupt your kid And also maybe beyblade, bakugan, and Duel Master. :3 And isn't it Ketchum not Ketchup =_="

I started on speed racer myself, and macross...right now I have him hooked on oldschool pokemon, and I dusted off the n64 so he could play pokemon stadium...turn based gaming should be a bit better for the adhd lol

Some of the child friendly Studio Ghibli films would be good to show. I remember watching Kiki's Delivery Service when I was younger, and my siblings liked watching Spirited Away, Nausicaa, and Castle in the Sky.

oh snap...castle in the sky is totally coming out this weekend...and DBZ just gave me a great father son cosplay idea muahahahahaha
