FLCL has 3 parts. Alternative and Progressive are the sequels of the original. Though they are not long they are all equally insane. It's the music that hooks most fans. I personally own the soundtrack. Haruko is more or less the antagonist of each. She's there to challenge the protagonists' world view through a twisted musical based lense. If that made any sense?

And! She's a little perverse with a child! Yippee! Well, preteen-ish. Wasn't it explained the FLC was just a euphemism for sex? Weird show, but great music.

Hey man I watched this when I was in middle school. Either way I do own the album. As for meaning behind the story it was mostly left to interpretation by the viewers. It was created as a pallet cleanser from the studio that worked on Evangelion. A popular theory is that it was the perspective of a kid growing up with depression and neglect. @kuharido I agree. Progressive without Flo just isn't the same. Lacked the same level of coverage I needed. I finished watching it. FLCL Alternative was my favourite seasons. It was the least confusing one and it was kinda like a Slice of life which I love
