No one will report them tho? If you see someone claim to potentially shoot up a location and then no one does anything about it. How does Canada's model work?

people have tried to report mass shooters, there was a school shooter that talked about what he was going to do online, it was report to the local sheriff who did fucking nothing and, you guessed, he shot up the school
you don't know if no one would report them, and again, mentally ill shooters talking about there weird ass hatreds is common

all i know is you make a call and they come and take the weapons that the person owns, and after an investigation and mental health screening do they give them back

I do not think red flag laws and mass registration will be helpful. Firstly, we live in a society in which anyone can say anything, and people instantly react with no desire to investigate deeper into the issue, hence cancel culture. Red flag laws do nothing but encourage the paranoia of people at best, and create unnecessary violence at worst. How well do you think it will go when police are told to confront someone with a firearm, when the police are already scared of unarmed citizens? We all know the disaster of "no-knock raids" and the like, along with the police regularly visiting the wrong homes. Rights cannot be revoked without a proper investigation prior. The reports of the mass shooting threats, such as with Nikolas Cruz, were a result of negligent law enforcement agencies who chose to ignore such things rather than investigate the issue. Even if red flag laws existed, this would have probably happened anyway, because the FBI chose not to follow protocol for whatever reasons they had, despite receiving multiple tips on the issue. The negligence of law enforcement should not be used as the noose to strangle common citizenry.
Mass registration is a bad idea for the freedom of the citizens, because this essentially puts every armed citizen on a list. Should the government decide it wishes to revoke the rights of it's citizens at any time, it would be far easier to do so if it has a list of those citizens. Citizens should not be put on what is essentially a government watchlist because they want to observe their natural freedoms. Look at Canada, they first required registration of rifles, and then eventually they confiscated those rifles. Now there are even airsoft guns will be banned for resembling a so called "assault rifle". Registration is simply a slow boil strategy that eventually can lead to the unrighteous confiscation of arms.
While a bit restrictive for my tastes, a much better system dealing in defense compared to Canada and even some states in the USA would be Taiwan's regulations. While they are listed as a "strict" country regarding firearms, they actually are one of the few countries in the world to encourage gun ownership. Taiwan has 3 classifications for firearms: Neutral (Shotgun, Pistols, Bolt Action/Precision Rifles), Civilian (Semi-Automatic Rifles), and Military (Automatic Weapons). There are 3 licenses: Handgun, Rifle, and Veteran licenses. Obtaining a handgun license allows a citizen the right to own and carry a handgun, obtaining a rifle permit allows a citizen to carry Civilian and Neutral class weapons, excluding pistols. Lastly, the Veteran License allows a citizen to obtain any weapon class they desire, and even carry them into gun-free zones. However, they must either have law or military experience before being permitted to apply. Additionally, Taiwan still conscripts it's citizens for military service. This effectively means the majority of the population enjoys the right to bear arms, and they are also properly educated on the use of arms. It is not even illegal to use a firearm in self defense without a license as long as good faith can be established. Of course, these all come with mental health and background checks, as is typical in the US states that allow it's citizens to carry arms. This system is adequately designed to give it's citizens the right of arms and also ensures it's citizens understand the bearing of arms.
I do not come here to debate or bargain with you, because nothing will ever change my mind on this issue; it is one of the only things I hold a strong opinion on. I only come to explain to you the rational of those that believe in the right of defense and hopefully give you some insight with my perspective.

@mountain_tiger that wall of text... (nothing against you, but my own attention span)

imma try and read it, though
i disagree that mass flagging would occur, and if it did they would have proceeders for that (like they do for swatting)
i wouldn't be for no knock raids or any reaids, but just an officer or two coming to the house to take the guns. if they'll put up a fight then its confirmed they're mentally ill and they'll be handed accordingly.
'Mass registration is a bad idea for the freedom of the citizens, because this essentially puts every armed citizen on a list."
ok we could debate this issue right there because i think its one of the stupidest ideas ever
why do you think you could stand any kind of chance against the united states government if they wanted your weapons?

I will wait until you have finished reading the post before responding. This is not an insult or anything, you just said you would try to read it, so I'd rather wait until you have finished first before bothering to say anything.

Yeah honestly i agree with mountain_tiger. In my own opinion i think MORE people should own guns. You wouldnt have to worry about being shot if you can shoot back. Why do you think people are stupid to rob a gun store? Cuz you will get shot. You know just my 2 cents on it.

@mountain_tiger i skimmed the rest, but iv heard this argument of 'we need automatic weapons to protect us from tyrannical governments' before and its utter nonsense, i don't understand how anyone could think any degree of fire arm could possibly protect you from the united states military xD
if they want your guns, you will be without guns. there is no fighting back
