Norway ain't Socialist. It is a social democracy. What made those Northern European countries so stable to live in was their strong investment in base education, thus producing proper qualified labourers and some economical freedom and low taxes. That made a welfare state viable in the run. . . . I guess.

Yeah, unfortunately that nuanced debate isn't understood in America. Like I said, social libertarian here. Not libertarian socialist.

Unpopular Fact. Chile's Pinochet was the worst (in terms of brutality) dictator of Latin America. He wasn't a Fascist, he was Liberal.

Well, I happen to think we should all be equal, perhaps with a single payer health care system, finance our schools, hospitals, and other departments more, giving them access to better equipment and more qualified practitioners, and that the people need some leverage over our government, while the government needs leverage over the corporations to keep them from violating our civil liberties as well. Meanwhile business should be left to its own devices unless the people agree that they should get reigned in. Call it what you will. Hell, throw in a social safety net while we're in there. My generation never had that because of the boomers.

@momoichi my economic views tie closely to my social views. I have an issue with invisible monopolies and lobbying. I do believe in the capitalist system but invisible monopolies suffocate it. Like insulin is controlled by only three companies worldwide that actively suppress private labs from creating their own insulin. Either buying them out or making things difficult for them. I believe in honest competition.
