We do have an epidemic of mental health problems. Maybe it's come to a point where the beatings have gone too far or maybe they always were too far and we're just noticing now.

i pray you either never have children or you change your mind, because that's disturbing to me i cant imagine hitting my 3 year old nephew, even when he throws a tantrum (and we deal with that by putting him in his crib and letting him chill out, and it works, he comes back out calm and goes back to playing. no violence needed...) just the idea of a grown adult hitting a defenseless child, ugh sick

Going into Anecdotal statements is kind of hard to argue against. I mean you can mention good things in your life and say you were beaten as a kid but that doesn't mean you're not dealing with trauma. No one is going to admit to that though.

Time out and scolding almost all the time. I am a pretty tame person, especially me who loves children. But it doesn't mean I love them, that I would just be lenient. Spanking should be for real twisted shit like deliberately breaking things in the house and blatant lack of respect. Problem is that boomer parents spanked their children for everything, because they weren't taught to deal with children.
