i MIGHT be inclined to vote for trump or any republican incumbent if they actually got good shit done like adding a technology branch of the government, invested in renewable resources and technology or at least started showing positive ads about nuclear power so we can stop shaking in our boots over one of the best clean power options, end the war on drugs, implement some kind of socialized healthcare, increase in programs for people in diminishing occupations like coal miners, and create programs to update our infrastructure because America looks like a third world country compared to some European countries imo these are the most important issues in America, and while i doubt biden will dip into even one of these, the democrat party has at least acknowledged that these are all issues we need to address

trump keeps bragging about "space force", which means absolutely nothing, but if he actually instead added a new branch of ANYTHING that dealt with technology (which would include the issue of jobs being stolen by automation) i would have to give him props for it but no, hes just another old man that still remembers how kool the moon landing was instead of actually looking to modern issues and modern advancements

Isn't the Republican strategy on industry just "Cling to a dying fossil fuel industry from which even Shell is trying to transition while all the jobs in the economy get automated away anyway"?

pretty much, its as if they wanted to stop the advancement of automobiles because the horse industry would suffer America use to be the pinnacle of advancement, if we actually did invest in renewable resources we would in the green and other countries would need us again
