I wanted to answer your earlier question on forgiveness as it was a wise and well thought out question. The point of TRUE forgiveness is not an acceptance of bad behavior, but a deceleration of its error. To forgive a person is to place a greater weight of guilt upon them. Why else do people look pained when they hear the words I forgive you? How many become angry and indignant upon hearing the expression? Often they report, "For what wrong did I do to be forgiven of?" Said person is forced to reflect upon an action that they themselves may not understand is wrong until the moment someone held up a mirror to face themselves. To be clear, I agree the idea of race is poor and antiquated. I recently filled out the Federal Census and found it ignorant to even ask what my origin was as if it truly matters. We are all human. Not one of us came from a planet other than Earth. My nationality is of the United States, but it is true my lineage dates back to the continent of Europe. What country there should I list? I am not under French, Ireland, or United Kingdom rule therefore what weight could knowing my many times great grandfather hold to deciding present legislation applicable to my current life? Likewise I know African decent has not been given its fair due. Mostly by continuing to ask the question in my opinion reinforces the old tradition of separation. If it were my authority I would refer to everyone as human and be done with it. Your culture is indeed what you make it. I am not Irish, French, nor British. I am merely Gabriel Allon True a human just like you. The current failings of our combined society is one that does require a community effort to fix. That said, I hope you too will have the strength to give what those that wronged you lacked. Each one of us has the obligation to contribute and build upon that what came before. Having the courage to face evil with righteousness will not chain you but free you. Vengeance was never the solution because it is a repeating of the problem that came before. Carry in your heart only what you can afford to burden it with. Use the wisdom of your mind to right the wrongs of those that could not by building the ideal society today to house the future of tomorrow. And if nothing else, ALWAYS LOVE YOURSELF so that you may love another even if the other does not deserve it. For in truth BOTH of US NEED it.
