Panzer Dragoon Saga. That game has to be the finest JRPG experience I've had in my life. It has story, gameplay, graphics (for the time) and great music.

The Trails series, starting with Trails in the Sky FC. Currently a 9 game long interconnected narrative, said to be 60% done in the plot department at present. Also, its pretty anime.
