I'm disappointed and at the same time not surprised at the disrespect people showed for the Hero from Dragon Quest being a dlc character for smash. :u

As a Dragon Quest fan I'm happy. I always wanted a classic JRPG character in smash like the Black Mage from FF1. And it looks like the spell system they have will be interesting.

I mean, that was a great swathe of content. I am sure even the most rabid anti-Nintendo fan could find something in there they like. For me personally these are what I am most interested in: *Spyro Trilogy officially confirmed for Switch, with a not too far off release date. Super excited about that. *Alien Isolation coming to Switch is interesting. Don't think I will purchase it again, but still, interesting. *Dragon Quest 11: Definitive has been my most looked forward to Switch game for awhile, nice to see a bit more of it. *Interested in Demon x Machina conceptually, but man the footage looked really rough. *Astral Chain looks like it could be a great DMC/Bayo style game, just with a more anime look and feel (and I am all for that). On the Smash front. The DQ hero has pretty much been a shoe in for awhile. Though the execution of his inclusion is surprising. Its exactly what I said they should do for the Belmonts (just include all the Belmonts as different skins for one character). And Banjo has been requested for a LONG time, so not really surprised too much there. 2 more characters to go. Of course I am sure the internet is going to explode of that last reveal. But for me, I enjoyed BotW just fine. But I will take a TP or WW any day over it. I am sure it will be good, just not "super hyped" for it,

I was actually pretty underwhelmed by most of the presentation but Breath of the Wild sequel reveal really saved it for me. I'm also excited for Pokemon but I'm avoiding info about it as much as possible to be surprised. Also I'm fairly excited for Fire Emblem but not really hyped.

On the flipside I don't really care about Banjo while the DQ hero was something I felt should have been in smash way before Banjo or anything else was even considered. DQ is basically THE JRPG and basically a cultural treasure in Japan. Without it, so many franchises wouldn't even exist today. Especially stuff like Fire Emblem and Zelda. Since the "Generic fantasy anime swordsman" was something that was spawned from dragon quest in the first place. and a lot of japanese developers took inspiration from DQ. It's basically something that's a household name and instantly recognizable by all ages like Mario is in most western countries :u

Of course the dq hero is gonna be in it. It was a decent game but Im kinda eh about game re releases only being for one console. Its like, why buy the game in the first place if they are going to make a definitive edition eventually?

@redreaper33 I am sure some of it was planned well in advance, but I have also heard they have taken fan feedback of the original version to change things for this one (complaints about the ost and difficulty were common I hear). I imagine this will be a timed exclusive, and that there will at least be an option to upgrade PC versions to the definitive version. 3DS and PS4 are probably out of luck though. I know Persona does this with pretty much every game, but is it common for DQ (I am not super familiar with the series, despite loving jrpgs)? Also, Spyro Trilogy is also coming to PC. So now I have a hard choice to make.
