I think the point panda and sobo are trying to make is that this wasn't a protest it was an attack they were literally storming the Capitol many had weapons, many were vandalizing, and the people inside were there to threaten the people there, if this was anyone else it would be considered a terrorist act it doesn't matter if they're American citizens everything they did was illegal and that they did have the right to shoot especially when they're trying to break down the door leading to the people the police are protecting what else do you think is gonna happen if you storm a fucking government building filled with many important people and sure some people probably didn't want to take hostages but they were standing right alongside the people that did

@hell_hound7 so the footage of the shooting came out today https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2021/01/08/ashli-babbitt-shooting-video-capitol/ i somewhat change my stance of police brutality based on this footage he had no logical reason to shoot her, BUT i can sympathize with the fear he must have felt and the weight of the senators well being on his shoulders my issue comes down to the fact that he should have been properly trained, because if you shoot a small woman out of fear you shouldn't be a police officer the woman wasn't so much stupid imo and more ignorant of police brutality and didn't think her, a lil ol' white woman, would ever be shot by a police officer the situation was fucked, everyone played a huge roll on the blame, and imo it comes down to poor police training more so than pure heavy handed negligence or abuse of power

@momoichi his job first was to protect those senators. If that lady made it through they all would have piled in. Lets be honest their target was the senators. I see no other reason to raid the senate house other than to go after senators and pressure them. Also think about it this way, he is outnumbered. Many of those guys expected the national guard there, and they were not. They prepared as though the guard would be there. But they were not yet ordered to go. So he is outumbered and protecting high profile targets. Im not saying that lady dying was right but i dont feel his response was all that wrong. You dont know if he saw maybe a weapon, cuz think logically that wasnt normal glass they were breaking they probably battered it with something.

Very sincerely doubt he shot her just because. This isnt the same case as police brutally againts African Americans. Where people were shot with no probable cause. She WAS NOT supposed to be there.

@hell_hound7 not sure if you even read what i said, didn't say he 'shot her just because'..... depending how far back the senators were, it could be justified because those people are insane and were out for violence the real bad people were the cops that left the other cop behind to deal with them alone if the senators were out of the building by that time, the killing was unjustified, he should have fallen back and stayed in that room and shoot only if someone came in if they were still in the building then the shooting was justified depends how deep in the building they were
