Why is the rate of suicide and mental illness going up?

Especially in males (I know it's technically successful suicides and female has more failed suicide) but why are the rates rising instead of falling.

(wanted to post edgy joke but i wont) work hours have gone up in recent time and so has debt im not too sure about western countries, but i know in japan men have it very shitty theyr expected to live their lives at a desk job (watch aggretsuko to get an eye into the horrible office working conditions in japan) im not too sure on the dating scene but i hear that women have high expectations of men as well, making finding a partner all the more stressful its why many men in japan are choosing to become otaku instead, its easier to get a gf is shes 2d and perfect with no expectation, and parents in japan take care of their kids for longer than western families on average anyways not even to mention that talk of mental illness is taboo in japan as well, its getting things stacked against you from day one

One reason: Because survival this basic need has been satisfied thanks to the development of productivity. Many people aren't aware of what death is actually like.

A lot of stress, lack of sleep, vitamin D deficiency, too much time in front of a phone or computer screen, poor dieting, lack of exercise, and a million other things. A look at the Incel Community kinda reveals a lot of these, plus one huge one: Men don't know how female attraction works, so they don't get laid. Rejection also has a direct impact on male self esteem (A little more so than women due to how mating psychology/biology works in men.) So, if you fail to cultivate the right social and practical skills in life, and you look less than perfect, you kinda get stuck in a perpetual loop of rejection and depression, which leads you to reject the advice the world offers you, because it's hard to understand the concept of "picking yourself back up by your bootstraps" because you have a world view that traps you in a fixed mindset rather than a growth mentality. But women don't exactly have it much easier. So our current society isn't exactly mindful of our evolutionary psychology, and rather than address that, we make it taboo, tell people to nut up or shut up, and continue living in the economic feudal society that entrenches those who aren't lucky, creative, or talented enough to strike fortune. Like I said, there's a million of other things besides this that I would either need to research more, or don't feel like typing out at the moment and may do so later. But those are some pieces of the puzzle.

probably trauma as a kid is going up and those kids usually have a drinking problem. sounds like me, im alive and im still work at getting better.
