Has Modern Society and Millenials Killed Romanticism?

The reason why I bring up this topic is because my friend and I got into a debate about why we have never found romance (AND I MEAN REAL ROMANCE). He believes that there are no women left that believe in romanticism and just use men for themselves and see it as normal aka hoes. He said modern society has taught young women and men that its okay to not show emotions or appreciation towards your partner. However I believe there are still Romantics out there men and women alike. They are hard to find. What do you think?? Has men and women killed romanticism and chivalry?! Or is there still hope for that ideal relationship filled with laughter, surprises, roses, and long walks on the beach?

Nah, romanticists still exist. I am one myself. That being said, I take the more generalist definition of a romanticist, as someone who sees the world for more than it actually is, not some lover boy who can't keep his feet on the ground. Yes, romanticism is dying. Yes, I will mourn it. However, I've accepted it. It's a true product of the Piscean age. And the age of Aquarius doesn't really have a place for it. Nor should it. The way people think is changing, and it kinda needs to if we are going to address the problems we've cultivated for our world.

ofcourse theres real romance still out there xD
surprises, laughter, lounging with your loved one as you watch a movie, walking together and generally having fun together
thats what love IS
that being said, disney esque romances are dangerous, giving you high expectations as a child of what things "are going to be" or "should be"
it leaves you wondering later in life "is that how thing should be but im just broken?" unhealthy
romance should come naturally, fueled by love for your partner
not be some standard to live up to to be "normal"
mini rant over
the idea of "romanticized love" which id call 'love is magic' 'love at first sight' and the stupid 'we're ment to be' are slowly being chipped away by modern cynicism as it should be, while the standard romances are still in play because thats how humans celebrate their love

Love is a battlefield for those with big and sensitive hearts!
We see romance through rose tinted glasses, and people can use that against us.
It's difficult to still keep hold of that idealism, but I think it's worth it, because when you find love it's always more intense and all-encompassing than most people would experience. But the pain is also more severe.
Modern society hasn't killed romanticism, I think. There will always be people that are romantics, who want to love with all of their heart.

All of you have very good points on the matter. Lamby I agree about how its normal for classical romance to be chipped away at since it was long ago that it began. There are no knights in shining armor anymore, but there are those that take a different form of that knight in the modern age.
Jester I 100% agree with you. It is hard being a romantic with how much people who don't care about love decide to use you and don't care about what happens. However I do believe there will always be romantics longing for love out there. At least until the robot overlords take over.
