Martyrdom and self sacrifice

Back when I was a kid, I had an experience that I can always draw back to even to this day. To keep it short, I was about 5-7 years old and used to go to daycare everyday. One morning, my brother and I get picked up at our house, like any other day, but this day was different. Apparently an act of minor vandalism happened inside the babysitters car and she wants to know who did it. All of the children are dead silent and you could tell no one was going to confess to the crime. You could feel the tension in the air, she was pisssed. Anyways, she begins to threaten bringing in her police friend to come in and investigate. I'm pretty sure this was my breaking point or something. I had no idea what was going through my head but I suddenly spoke out and said I did it. Everyone turned around to look at me, bewildered by what they had heard. I couldn't believe what I said either! I obviously knew I had no part in it but something inside of me told me to do it. Whats even more amazing is my friend next to me raised her hand also and said it was both of us! Her and I were really close friends but I was so surprised that she decided to take the fall with me. It was a really moving experience and I wanted to share to get peoples thoughts jogging. Has any of you had an experience resembling this? If so, try to explain it to your best ability. Also, feel free to give me feedback on my story. There is obviously a side of it that can be dismissed as stupidity or naivety and I won't deny that. But on the other hand, there's a reason why I still remember it quite vividly. Either side, I hope I left room for a discussion. If not, hello archives!!!

I guess ass whoopings really don't qualify then XD thanks for the response. Should have been a little more specify in word choice I suppose. As for sacrificing yourself for children you care for, that's a good example for sure. I wonder how many people have been put in a situation along that caliber? But I'm sure all of us imagine it and prepare ourselves for that off chance.

Got to agree with Order, That's not truly martyrdom, Be like saying saying someone was beaten when in reality they had a pillow thrown in their face XD. But to what you said, My younger brother by a year once broke a vase when we were about 15, My father came in and asked who did, and I took the blame before he could.
