Well, it depends on what program you use. I use Paint Tool Sai 2, and usually use the watercolor brush to blend my colors. ^-^

I'm an artist too...in a different timeline. In this one I didn't have the patience to learn to be good at it. :(

ah i love watching speedpaints on youtube as well you should try out clipstudio paint, they have a whole bunch of brushes and nice tools that make painting so much easier and you can make small animations on it (altho i still prefer painttoolsai for lineart xD)

I use Clip Studio as well! Clip Studio also has this cheaty thing called a perspective ruler...
