There's no way to avoid hurting people. Being in a constant state of limbo, not being affirmed or rejected, is painful in itself. If there's a "the one" that he "must not hurt", then I think the answer to this situation is pretty clear. To answer the specific question, though, if it's gonna make someone jealous, then I imagine that's where the line is.

Agree with fox. In any case feelings will be hurt. If he says nothing than all the girls interested in him will keep trying not knowing he already liked them which will cause a lead on and prevent the girls to move on if they decide to after rejection. It's always risky falling for a friend but it's better to come out just in case she feels the sane way. Cuz if she ends up with someone else he most likely will kick himself for not saying anything and will always wonder: what if I did say something? Would things have ended differently? The jealousy part is with the girls alone. If they get jealous and give him a hard time about it than they really aren't interested in actually stating friends. People who are friends will stay friends. Even If THEY Get Rejected.
