I wanted to know how people can just go up and talk to a girl. I'm usually shy and awkward when it comes to talking to girls but I figured I would never find a girlfriend being like this. I find it hard cause I want to find a girl who's just as big of an Otaku as I am. So I was wondering how would I start off talking to a girl

The same as you would with anyone else. It seems like the problem you're really facing is that you pressure yourself into thinking female=potential partner. What you should be thinking is, let's just talk. Do you have issues talking to guys? If not, then as I mentioned, you're setting yourself up when you talk to girls. They're not some sort of foreign or mysterious creature.

Hm, I'm assuming this is irl. If I were you, I'd get a dog and go to a local park. Girls will naturally flock to you haha.
In all seriousness, a good technique would be to ask a question. Like, "hey do you know where the nearest starbucks is?" and after she answers, just give an offhand compliment to follow up: "Thanks, that was really helpful. Also, I think you have a beautiful smile." And walk away if you feel awkward.
Repeat until you're confident enough to actually start and continue a convo with someone. Otaku girls arent hard to find. Just attend a local/regional anime con. Good luckk.

yaasshat That is a good point. I'm in the same kind of boat as OP, but I don't just have problems talking to girls, I have problems talking to everyone. I can communicate just fine but I can't ever get past the "acquaintance" part.
Cerealia That sounds like a good idea but I have serious paranoia about coming off as creepy. imo I'm not very good looking so I don't know if I'd be sending the right signals lol.
Also finding a girl at a convention sounds right but that means that my chances at finding a girl that likes anime are narrowed down to once a year :p

Yeah, talking to a girl's pretty easy. Keeping the conversation going without making it feel forced is the part you are going to want to prepare yourself for. Feel free to practice by making bonds with people outside of conventions, because communication is one thing our generation was never really brought up to know how to do with each other very effectively. Even as an introvert, communication is a skill I recommend taking the time to learn and develop. Because lets face it, unless you're extremely attractive, nobody comes to you, so it certainly helps if you've garnered the experience and skill to be confident enough in yourself to be able to approach people.

Talking to a girl is the same as talking to anyone else. Like yaasshat said don't pressure yourself into thinking a girl as a potential partner. I used to make the same mistake before and it just created unneeded stress. Be yourself, make small talk and see how it plays out. Most of them will ignore you/make small talk then leave but you might catch someones interest. Good Luck.
