Marriage

Dressing up for one day, meeting people who hardly know you, wearing clothes you'll never wear again, putting on a show for said people...Etc.Oh, let's not forget the setting up part, weeks or months of preparation, everything from color theme to wedding favors, food, drinks, a wedding venue, a place to have a reception, music during the wedding, a DJ for the reception...etc Fun after the fact? Sure. Before? Not really, well, unless you have plenty of money to spare. Oh, but it's all for the bride...its the bride's day...this is her happy day...What? There's a groom? Pffft... He's just there to say "I do." And have some cake... meh... I might of gone off on a tagent/vent. But, yes, if you're planning on being with someone for the rest of your life, be it through marriage or not, you'd better be honest with yourself and them. Remember, either way, it's a commitment and if you can't be held to your word, you have nothing.

When I say I want to dress up I more mean I just want to wear a beautiful dress. It's something I won't get to do more than probably once in my life and the little girl in me still wants to look like a princess just once. I have no interest in feeding 200 of my "closest friends" and family and worrying about putting on a show.

Well, marriage is one of those things that means something completely different to different people. To some it's nothing more than a legal contract while to others it's the ceremony that binds one to the other in the name of forever holding onto each other in the name of true love - albeit I'd personally prefer it to be a small event. Sure I could have put that in a less flowery way but sod it. To me, I would love to get married but it wouldn't be for a while yet. Gotta get my life sorted out and where I want it to be and find that one lovely lass I'd love like there's no tomorrow before I even begin to seriously think about the idea of getting married.

Marriage changes people as they change as soon as they first start talking about marriage as being married isn't that chance to say "Oh im gonna go put out an ad to get married to someone." Or "I'm just gonna marry to someone I don't even know." Ok world... WHAT! THE! FUCK!! As marriage is supposed to be the most important day in a man and girls life not some charity case ball to blow money on someone who doesn't even love you. In my case if you don't know the person more than a year or 4 years don't pop no questions. I hope to one day

I still believe in the value of marriage, but most of the time people rush into it and realize who they married faaaaar too late. So yeah one day I'll probably get married

To me, things like my birthday have always been MY day. In society, your birthday generally belongs to everyone else. People celebrate you, and you must show up to let them do so. Weddings seem to be on that same playing field. It seems the majority want to treat a wedding as a treat for the spectators. For me, a wedding is something between two people. The only number of people I want to be there is the minimum number of witnesses I need to have it legal. I only want to get married after much deliberation and consideration, but I'm perfectly content with telling others after the fact "oh by the way I'm married now". Of course... I suspect I'll probably have to compromise...
