I'd love to have a panda for two years. They say a dog or all pets make you less depressed. Humans make you more depressed.

STOP ADVERTISING THRILLER MOVIES AS HORROR MOVIES
IM SICK OF SITTING FOR OVER AN HOUR WAITING TO BE SCARED!!
AN INTENSE ATMOSPHERE IS NOT HORROR!! A SINGLE JUMP SCARE IS NOT HORROR!! GORE IS NOT HORROR!!!

Depends. Psychological thrillers always hit a little harder. Most horror, American horror, is just about "How much gore can we throw in here?". Those kind of horror movies always fall flat, at least to me. Like the Saw series, for instance.

@yaasshat slashers have gone the way of the dodo. its all ghosts/dimension monster with ghost mechanics/curses/demons now. saw was the last mainstream gore porn film, and that also wasn't horror because there were no scary scenes. only scene ever in the entire franchise that made me jump was when the pig guy jump scared us from the closet
oh yeah, saw is getting a revamp, so i wonder if itll respark the trend.
@hell_hound7 have you see Terrified? that was the last truly frightening horror film ive seen. i hear thailand and korea are the horror masters these days, and their films are very plot heavy as well, which i appreciate too.

Horror is a more broad category than scary movies. Excessive gore is most definitely classified as horror.

@umi_nezumi i disagree. gore is an element that can also be featured in comedy or thriller. it is not exclusive to horror

Well you can disagree, but the dictionary be my witness: "fear, shock, disgust". Gore is going for the later two elements.
Yes, you can use gore in other ways, just like fear. Jump scares aren't exclusive to horror. Nothing is exclusively packaged into it's own little world.

Ehhh idk about thailand and korea specifically. There are some scary japanese films as well. Asia just has some twisted minds to think of the stuff they do.

@umi_nezumi dictionary definitions are secondary to how people use words
tucker and dale has gore and its a comedy, and many other comedies also use gore as shock value
@hell_hound7 man, tell me some scary titles then because as far as i know japan has been skating on the success of ringu and juon. those two are the only scary movies they got. its a total fabrication that they have the scariest.
hell, shutter was scarier than ringu and thats thai
